Task 5: You’ve got questions, we’ve got answers
During an incident many people in the community will have questions and they will pose these questions on social media. A savvy situation status person and/or PIO may evaluate these questions to determine if information is effectively reaching residents and how new press releases might be modified to answer frequently asked questions from the public. Knowing what questions are being asked also allows the situation status unit to get a glimpse of what needs may still be unmet or unresolved. When monitoring social media it is often important to set up searches that don’t rely on hashtags, but on keywords. For finding questions, the question mark is the best search operator. Script your searches so that the question mark is in quotes and include other keyword, hashtag or geotagged information to filter out the millions of quotes that might exist.
Complete boolean searches that include a question mark and the conference hashtag #IAEM13. Try and provide correct information to people with questions by researching or seeking the appropriate information and replying to their question. Make sure your reply also includes the conference hashtag #IAEM13 and the task abbreviated as T1, T2 etc.
